Computer does not recognize phone?
I have an iPhone 3G. When I connect it via a USB cable, iTunes recognizes the phone but the computer itself recognized the phone as a media device / portable storage device. As a result, I can not get the photos from the phone to my computer. I tried with several USB cable, and on several computers – 2 Vista PC's and Mac – with the same result. I can "see" the phone through iTunes, but not as a hard disk. Any Tips?
I have the same problem with my phone (a different model), and I have 2 workarounds. The device could be a drive letter, but "hidden" be. In Microsoft's TweakUI PowerToy under My Computer-> drives, you can enable or disable disk drives appear to be hidden. It is another way to do this, but I can not remember where I saw it in the interface. Option 2 (which I use), Bluetooth (file transfer service). It has the Advantage that the phone's file system at any time my phone is somewhere in my house without being next to the computer.
