A question about ink-jet printers…(Epson 1100)?

I just bought an Epson Workforce 1100 wide format printer and am using it for photos…my question is, I have replaced 2 black cartridges at the same time. One is now 1/2 full and the other is full, according to the indicator. Should they both be at the same level?? What to do?
Another question, how to change the paper size; there are some standard sizes but what I am looking for is pics, 11×14 and other sizes, but cannot figure out how to do so. Overall, I am happy with the printer although the colors do not come out in same shade as when I edit them on Picasa. Thanks, bruce

Perhaps it uses one black then switches to the other when it runs out. That would be the smart way to do it. When you get the low ink warning, you will still have another black to use while going out for more ink. If they both ran out at the same time you would be stuck until you could get more.
